Can you explain the name Steeling Home?

Often confused as Sterling Home or Stealing Home, our name is Steeling Home. We started as an artist-run collective in 1993. When the store first opened the focus was on hand-forged iron and steel work –  hence the name. Still run by the original artist, the shop has evolved to include a wide array of treasures and surprises.

 

Do you offer free delivery?

YES! We offer free delivery in Calgary on orders of $95 or more! During the pandemic we worked hard to enable people to shop safely and comfortably. While we are open for in-person shopping we still offer delivery for online orders. Our delivery radius is inside the Calgary Ring Road, bordered by Canyon Meadows Drive to the South.

 

Are you open?

WE ARE OPEN! Shop in person or online. We are open everyday of the week! But if you prefer to shop from home, our website is updated daily.

 

Are you the only location?

Yes. Steeling Home is the one and only. You can find us on the amazing 17th Avenue. A lively community with lots of shops, restaurants, and more. Check out our friends https://17thave.ca/ to find out what to do in the area.✨ 

 

How does in store pickup work?

Once you’ve finished shopping on our website and go to checkout, you can select ‘pickup'. You should get a confirmation email to let you know that we have received your order. Once your order has been prepared by our staff (within 1-2 days, usually same day), you’ll receive an email with instructions. Orders can be picked up during our store hours but if that time frame does not work for you, we can make other arrangements just give us a call. If you’re comfortable coming in, you can come into the shop and pick it up, otherwise you can call us to arrange curbside pickup.

 

How do I tell if something is in store?

We work hard to keep our website and stock lists up to date. Everything you see online should be available in store so long as it hasn’t sold out since you viewed it.

 

Where can I park in the Beltline?

There are paid parking lots in the area, the closest one is next to our neighbour Whiskey Rose Saloon. Otherwise 2 hour street parking is available along 17th avenue Monday-Friday from 9am to 3:30pm & Saturdays 9am to 6pm, payment required. Free street parking after 6pm Monday-Saturday & all day Sunday.

 

Where do you ship and do you offer free shipping?

We ship across North America. Shipping is calculated at checkout but we do offer free shipping on order of $175 or more (*excluding certain large items such as rugs, exclusions will be noted in the description of the item)

 

Is everything Canadian made?

We try to spotlight and carry as many local and Canadian artists in our Calgary store as possible. While our emphasis and focus is on Canadian made goods, we do carry a variety of goods from all over the world to help keep things consistently available on our shelves.

 

How does delivery work?

After having selected what you want to order, and after filling out your name and address, you will then be able to choose 'pickup' or 'delivery and shipping'. Select delivery. After having placed an order online, you will receive a confirmation email.

Once your order has been prepared we will email you to confirm your address as well as get any special instructions. For example, "in the event that no one is home, please leave the order on the front step." The email will also advise you on when your order will be delivered (these emails are sent within 24 hours of receiving your order, usually it is within hours/the same day).

Upon confirmation of your address and that the day of delivery works, your order will be sent out. All orders will be delivered within 3 days but usually within 1-2 days of ordering, depending on where you live.

Delivery is offered within the Stony Trail Ring Road/ 201 Ring Road & north of Canyon Meadow Road.

If you have any special requests, or specific delivery queries, they can be written in the note area before checking out. If you are delivering to someone else for a gift please make a note of it in the comment section in checkout. We will ensure we confirm the time and address without giving details of the contents of the order.

 

Online order special requests?

There is an area to write notes to give us any further information that may be helpful. Before you check out, there is a page that is called 'Your Shopping Cart' where all of your items are listed. On the right side of the page, you will see 'Additional Comments' with a box underneath. There, you will be able to write out any notes to give us more information.

For example: "Please do not include the bill as it is a gift" OR "Could you write in the card 'Happy Birthday Sonya'" etc.

 

I didn’t get an email about my order?

If you did not receive a confirmation email from us saying that your order is ready for pickup or confirming your delivery address - please check your spam or junk folder. Otherwise, give us a call.

 

Do you offer gift cards?

Yes! ✨ We have gift cards that can be purchased online that work in person and online You can also purchase gift cards in store but in store gift cards must be used in-person.

 

What is your return policy?

You have 30 days to return the item in store for a full refund or exchange (excluding sale items). If you don’t live in Calgary, check our online store’s return policy here.

 

Do you have gift receipts?

We can easily do gift receipts in store, which allow exchange within 30 days without listing the price of the original gift. If you are placing an online order but would like a gift receipt please email us.

 

Can you do gift wrapping in the store?

We do not offer formal gift wrapping, however we are happy to remove price tags and put the items in our red tissue and Steeling Home paper bags.
